hey! sorry it's taken a while to get back with you! first off, when finding a place to stay, i find it really helpful to get your first night booked (so you dont have to worry about trying to get somewhere when you arrive w/jet lag!), and then ask for suggestions at the hotel you are at. chances are, they'll have a pretty good recommendation for you for the next place you're staying at. i was very fortunate not to get food poisoning, but i was VERY careful of what i ate and drank. if you can, get your doctor to prescribe some antibiotics incase you get delhi belly! i travelled in october, so i have no real experience with the monsoons. hopefully it doesnt make it too unbearable for you! and lastly, the scams we encountered were a lot of tuk tuk scams. like, we'd get into a tuk tuk, and they'd take us to a store they got commission from instead of where we wanted to actually go, and try and charge us too much for the trip. my advice is to be very firm, and negotiate pricing and destination BEFORE you get into the tuk tuk. just be wary of things that seem shady or unfamiliar, and you'll be fine! if you have any other last minute questions, feel free to email me at cokon@statravel.com!! :)
hey! no, unfortunately my nepal plans got thwarted by the insane ticket prices... on the other hand, i'm leaving *tomorrow morning* for a solo trip in argentina and bolivia, so i can hardly complain!
i hope you have an awesome time in nepal and india though- nepal is still veeery much on my top-five to-see list, so i'll definitely have some questions for you when you get back! cheers
